How to Choose the Best Pool Service in Ibiza (2026)

Updated April 2026 · 6 min read

There are dozens of pool companies in Ibiza and the quality gap between the best and the worst is enormous. This guide covers what actually matters when you're choosing — and what you should walk away from.

Start With the Basics: What a Proper Service Looks Like

Before comparing companies, make sure you know what you're buying. A standard weekly pool service in Ibiza should include:

  • Surface skimming and floor vacuuming
  • Brushing walls and waterline tiles
  • Chemical testing — pH, free chlorine, total alkalinity, stabiliser
  • Adding chemicals as needed (these should be included in the price, not billed separately)
  • Filter backwash or cartridge rinse when pressure demands it
  • Basket emptying (pump and skimmer)
  • A visual check of visible equipment
  • A written or photo report after each visit

If a quote doesn't mention these, ask. Cheap quotes often exclude chemicals, which can add €40–€80 per month to your real cost.

Seven Things to Look For

1. Photo reports after every visit

This is the single best indicator of a reliable company. A proper pool technician takes 5–10 photos at the end of each visit: clean water, equipment room, chemical readings, any issues. If the company won't commit to this in writing, they probably don't visit as often as they claim.

2. Fast WhatsApp response

Pool problems don't wait for office hours. If you message on a Saturday and get a reply on Monday, that's the service level you'll get when your pump fails before a guest arrival. Test this before signing — message them with a question and see how long they take.

3. Clear, all-inclusive pricing

Good companies quote a flat monthly fee with chemicals included. Bad ones quote a low headline price, then invoice separately for chlorine, algae treatments, filter cleans, and "extras". Ask for a sample month's bill from a similar-sized pool to see the real total.

4. Local, not just seasonal

Some companies only operate from June to September. That's fine if you're never here off-season, but a pool neglected from October to April needs an expensive startup in spring. Year-round providers cost slightly more but prevent those surprise bills.

5. Legal and insured

Ask for the company's NIF (tax ID) and proof of civil liability insurance. Any legitimate operator in Ibiza will send both without hesitation. If someone damages your equipment or has an accident on your property and they're uninsured, you'll be the one covering it.

6. Equipment knowledge, not just cleaning

A cleaner and a technician are different things. A good pool company can diagnose a pump issue, replace a salt cell, rebuild a sand filter, and swap a multiport valve. If all they do is skim and add chlorine, you'll be calling someone else the first time something breaks.

7. References you can actually check

Ask for two current customers in a similar area with a similar pool size. Call them. A company that has nothing to hide will be happy to introduce you. One that dodges the question is a clear no.

Red Flags to Walk Away From

  • Cash-only, no invoice. Common, but risky — no warranty, no recourse, and you may be breaking Spanish tax law.
  • "We'll start next week" without a written service agreement
  • Quote is 40%+ cheaper than everyone else. Either chemicals aren't included or visits won't actually happen every week.
  • No fixed visit day. "We'll come sometime this week" means they're fitting you in around higher-paying clients.
  • One person, no team. Fine in March, but when they're sick or on holiday in August your pool sits untouched.
  • Pressure to sign a 12-month contract before you've seen any work
  • Bad Google reviews with no replies. Negative reviews happen. How the company handles them tells you everything.

Questions to Ask Before You Sign

  1. What exactly is included in the monthly price?
  2. Are chemicals included or billed separately?
  3. Which day will you visit and at roughly what time?
  4. Will I get a report after each visit? Photos included?
  5. Who covers me if you miss a visit and my pool turns green?
  6. How quickly do you respond to WhatsApp messages?
  7. Can you handle equipment repairs too, or do you subcontract?
  8. What's your policy if I want to cancel?
  9. Do you have liability insurance? Can you send proof?
  10. Can I talk to two existing customers?

Price Is Not the Decider

The cheapest weekly service in Ibiza is around €120 per month, and the most expensive villa contracts hit €800+. Most well-run private pools land in the €250–€450 range. Within that band, price differences rarely reflect quality — they reflect how many visits, how much chemical, and whether equipment checks are included. For a full breakdown of what drives cost, see our pool maintenance cost guide.

What matters more than the headline number: does the service actually keep your pool ready to swim in, every week, without you having to chase anyone. If you're running a rental villa, reliability is worth far more than saving €30 a month — see our pre-arrival checklist for why.
